How To Make Your Redback Boots Last 10 Years or More

Our excellent Redback boots are built to high standards, With the correct care, they can last you many years. However, our Redback boots are made with thicker, wholegrain leathers, a natural product, which does require a little maintenance, compared with their synthetic counterparts. If left untreated, the leathers may become more prone to water ingress and damage.

To keep your Redback boots in best condition, we highly recommend keeping them cleaned and waxed. We can not over-emphasize the importance of doing this if you want a long service life from your boots!

Step 1: Thoroughly clean all mud, dirt, chemicals and debris from your boots, including the soles. Use a damp cloth to wipe away all detritus until all surfaces are clean. Try to not  saturate the leathers, it is unnecessary and will make the drying procedure last longer than necessary

Step 2: Once thoroughly clean, please allow your boots to dry off. Please do not use a heat source such as a radiator or fireplace to force dry the boots, as this may cause issues such as deformation of the leathers. Instead, keep them in a well ventilated, dry area and allow them to dry naturally.

Step 3: Use a lint free cloth to apply a liberal and even of coat of wax to the leathers, including to the stitching. Once fully coated, allow the wax to penetrate for five to ten minutes. Once absorbed, use a lint free cloth to wipe away and then buff out the wax, bringing the leathers to a light sheen. Allow them to sit for a few more minutes as this will allow the waxes to harden.

As mentioned above, this process will greatly increase the water resistance of the boot as well as provide an additional layer of protection to the leather.
