The new "Whistler" dress boot is a smarter, more refined offering from Redback. This boot is made with Tan (brown) Nubuck, a hard wearing leather with a velvety finish.

Built upon the same high quality foundations as the classic range from Redback, the Whistler is designed and manufactured in their Sydney factory in Australia.

Much as we love our classic Redback range, the Whistler is the more sophisticated choice, pairing really well with smart jeans or trousers, for an evening or day out. The addition of the genuine leather lining inside each boot provides extra comfort and a smarter finish.

Hard wearing and more refined outsole with a slightly less pronounced (compared to the classic Redback range) but nonetheless effective grip pattern, featuring multi-directional treads.

Lightweight sole design which combines a PU midsole and a TPU outsole providing a good balance between comfort and longevity.

Anatomic support provided by superb cradling of the foot, to reduce foot and leg strain.

Removable anatomic insoles for comfort, wicking, support and longevity of inner boot. This is the new closed-cell PU innersole featuring an anti-microbial top cover.

Tougher and supple full-grain leathers (+2.5mm) which are 30% thicker than can be found on many other boot brands.

Half tuck insole and shank for better torsional stability.

Redback boots are sized to official UK sizing guidelines therefore, please order your normal UK size. Yes, the boots are "generously" proportioned to allow for the wearing of a thick pair of socks.

If you would like an extra wide fitting, then please select one of our half sizes, if available. So for example, if you are a UK size 10 but you require a slightly wider fit, then please select size 10.5. Each half size adds 5mm to the width of the boot but does not add length i.e. size 10.5 is wider than size 10 but it offers no additional length.

This size guide was designed to act as a useful starting point in finding the right size of footwear for you. Ideally, for best fitting practice, you should try the boots on in person. If you are unable to do this, then please buy your normal UK shoe size. We have a simple returns procedure so should you require a different size then please get in touch with us. Unfortunately, we do not offer free returns if you have ordered the wrong size or style.

Official Redback Measuring

LOOK FOR

    Paper taped flat against a wall
    Heel lightly touching the wall
    Full body weight on the measured foot
    Longest toe marked, not just the big toe
    Widest forefoot points marked
    Both feet measured late in the day

AVOID

    Measuring only the smaller foot
    Tracing while sitting
    Using old measurements after weight,age, pregnancy, injury, or training changes
    Ignoring sock and insert thickness
    Treating brand size charts as interchangeable
    Assuming length solves width or volume

Here are two ways to make sure you get the right size boot. Redbacks are sized in UK sizes and are a G width fitting and can be on the generous side.

Method 1

Imagine your foot suspended in the boot from the ankle. Imagine a half-centimetre gap surrounding your foot, top, bottom, sides, back and front. This gap is then partly filled by a loop-stitch walking sock. You must still have room for your foot to expand about a quarter of a size during a day’s walk.

Method 2

Push your foot forward in the boot until you feel your toe at the end. If you can easily insert your index finger down the back of the heel the boot size should be correct. Wear the boots indoors on a carpet for twenty minutes or so to satisfy yourself the fit is correct before you go outdoors. We are happy to exchange footwear which hasn’t been used and shows no signs of wear.

Extremely Disappointed with the New Redback Whistler Boots

I have been wearing Redback boots for many years now and have always been a huge advocate of the brand. Every couple of years, I buy a new pair after wearing my previous ones out, and I honestly cannot speak highly enough of them. They have been an absolute godsend for my plantar fasciitis. The comfort and support provided by their soles have made such a difference to my life. I can hardly walk comfortably without them.
I have recommended Redbacks to just about everyone I know. My parents both wear them now, as do my brother, uncle and numerous friends. Living in a farming community, I am constantly recommending them to other people because I genuinely believe in the product.
There was always just one thing I wished Redback would do: bring out a dress shoe. I have never been able to find a smart shoe that offers anywhere near the comfort and support of the original Redback work boots.
So, when I heard Redback was bringing out the new Whistler boot, I was genuinely excited. I thought this might finally be the answer.
Unfortunately, having just purchased and received a pair, I am extremely disappointed.
I expected some compromise in comfort because the sole is not quite as thick as the traditional work boots. However, I certainly didn't expect them to feel so hard. They simply don't have the same softness, cushioning or overall comfort that I have come to associate with Redback. The ankle support also doesn't feel anywhere near as good as the original boots.
I decided to give them a proper try and went for a walk of around half a mile. By the time I had to turn around and walk back, I could hardly manage it. For someone who relies on Redback boots to help manage plantar fasciitis, this was a real disappointment.
I genuinely wanted to love these boots. I wanted them to be the smart, everyday alternative to the work boots that I have relied on for years. But sadly, they fall a long way short of what I expected from Redback.
I am writing this as someone who has been a loyal customer for many years and has recommended Redback to countless people. I really hope the company takes this feedback on board. The comfort and support of the original Redback boots are what make the brand so special. Please don't lose sight of that when developing new products.
A loyal Redback customer, but unfortunately a very disappointed Whistler owner.

The best boots. I don’t want to wear anything else since discovering Redbacks. At work, or outside of work I only wear redbacks now. Please bring more styles for formal or casual wear!

They’re good I just think redback should sell some wax or something to make sure they last (I’d also prefer having grip on them but I do get that they are nice boots so don’t get grip)
